Orvis Neoprene Wet Wading Socks

For several years I have enjoyed wet wading in rivers and creeks throughout the USA. About 4 years ago while fishing the Kern River one of cashiers the fly shop let me borrow a pair of wading socks to try out. What an improvement for comfort and safety. In this review I’ll give you my honest opinion about the product. In addition a video or 4.

Practicality

If you’re into Freshwater wet wading these are a good product. The neoprene helps keep your feet warm but NOT dry. Orvis Neoprene Wet Wading socks are easily packed and dry quickly. Size is fairly standard, though I do suggest wearing wool socks to help fit your foot more snug. These are not a good choice if your waders have built in neoprene booties. I have not tried them in salt water and don’t suggest it. The boot hook may rust quickly. Also, these “may” give you a little more protection if you are in areas that have venomous snakes, spiders, scorpions, ticks and poisonous plants as you can pull up above your calves.

I would use these often during warm months or in times when water is shallow enough not requiring full bib waders.

Cost

The Orvis Neoprene Wet Wading Sock is priced around $31 dollars. It is in the middle of the heap with other manufactures. For the money it is worth the cost.

Quality

The stitching is tight and secure both at the toes and boot hook points. Neoprene is thick and no holes were found when I purchased. Foot bed could be reinforced for longevity if pebbles or other debris gets into your wading boots. The boot hooks are strong and clip on to laces great. Foot bed could also have a little bit of texture added so your feet don’t feel so slippery while in the boots.

Summary

I would recommend the Orvis Neoprene Wet Wading Socks if you are into wet wading and don’t mind spending $30.
